The Carson Valley is known as “Nevada’s Garden Spot” and the town of Gardnerville grew in support of its agricultural community.  The Basque sheepherder culture is still evident throughout the town and is highlighted by the J.T. Basque Restaurant at the corner of HWY 395 and Eddy Street.  Gardnerville under the guidance of Main Street Gardnerville hosts a plethora of events through the entire year including a wine walk the third Thursday of the month starting in May and ending in October and Wind Down Wednesdays which is a food truck event held at Heritage Park the 4th Wednesday of the month.  Main Street Gardnerville is also responsible for the Harvest Festival and coffin races, a 5-K Freedom Run on 4th of July.  Also, at Heritage Park the town puts on movie nights, along with other privately coordinated events like Octoberfest and Dia De Los Muertos celebrations.  For more information visit Town of Gardnerville.
